Eco-friendly biodegradable scale inhibitor polyaspartic acid for oil fields

Polyaspartic acid (PASP) was produced by Shandong Yuanlian Chemical Co.,.ltd. as a green scale inhibitor from 2015, has a history of more than ten years of research and development. Compared with traditional scale inhibitors, PASA has excellent scale inhibition performance and excellent biodegradability. This performance is particularly valuable today when environmental awareness is increasing. The synthesis methods of polyaspartic acid are diverse and complex, and the product quality is directly affected by the synthesis method and reaction conditions. This paper uses maleic anhydride and ammonium carbonate as raw materials, and uses thermal polycondensation, alkaline hydrolysis, alcohol purification, and vacuum drying to prepare polyaspartic acid, and focuses on studying and discussing the effects of polymerization temperature and polymerization time on the scale inhibition performance of polyaspartic acid. In oil fields, the scale inhibition performance requirements of scale inhibitors are higher than those of conventional applications. They must have good salt resistance and temperature resistance. As a green and environmentally friendly scale inhibitor, polyaspartic acid can be used in 80℃ environment conditions and has good salt resistance. Preliminary application tests have been conducted in North Sea oil fields and European coal mining, and its application prospects in oil fields are broad.

According to the scale inhibition characteristics of polyaspartic acid, PASP with a relative molecular weight of 4000-6000 can be used in secondary oil recovery processes as a scale inhibitor for reinjection water to prevent corrosion and scaling of pipelines. It has excellent scale inhibition performance for common oil field scales such as CaC0, CaS0, BaS0, and its scale inhibition performance is better than that of polyacrylic acid. At the same time, it can form chelates with various ions such as calcium, magnesium, copper, and iron, and adhere to the surface of metal containers to prevent metal corrosion. Polyaspartic acid has stable performance, high scale inhibition efficiency, and good corrosion inhibition performance. It can well meet the protection needs of oil well production pipelines and ensure the normal production and operation of oil wells. In addition, high polymerization degree (relative molecular weight 22000) PASP can also be used as a viscosity reducer for water-based drilling fluids. PASP with a molecular weight of 4000 has an excellent viscosity reduction effect on calcium-based slurries, and its temperature resistance is comparable to that of iron-chromium lignin sulfonate!), so PASP can be used as a viscosity reducer in drilling fluids and plugging fluids.
